Woodstock public safety officials gathered at Walmart on Saturday morning to help nearly 100 local children shop for Christmas gifts during the annual Shop with a Hero event. The program unites first responders with families to support the community during the holidays.

Personnel from the Woodstock Police Department, Woodstock Fire Department, and Cherokee County E 9-1-1 participated in the shopping trip. The event was hosted by Walmart and coordinated with help from the Woodstock Public Safety Foundation to provide gifts for children in need.

Officials described the 2025 event as a success, noting that the collaboration between the agencies, the foundation, and the retailer helped make the season "merry and bright" for the participating youth. The initiative serves as a way for local first responders to give back directly to Woodstock residents.
