Woodstock Police to Meet Neighbors Over Coffee This Saturday

The informal community event gives residents a relaxed setting to meet officers, ask questions, and share concerns, no agenda required

The Woodstock Police Department is hosting a Coffee with a Cop event this Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Black Rifle Coffee Company, 10971 Hwy 92, Woodstock.

The premise is deliberately simple: walk in, grab a cup, and talk to the officers who patrol your streets. No agenda, no presentations, no podium, just the kind of unhurried conversation that rarely happens when one party is writing a ticket and the other is running late for work.

That gap is exactly what Coffee with a Cop was designed to close. The program launched in Hawthorne, California, in 2011 with a straightforward observation: most encounters between residents and police occur during traffic stops, emergencies, or other high-stress moments that leave little room for anything but the business at hand. By moving the meeting point to a coffee shop, departments across the country have found a low-barrier way to build familiarity before those charged moments arise. The program has since expanded to thousands of agencies nationwide.

For Woodstock residents, Saturday's event is a practical opening to raise whatever is on their minds, a pattern of speeding on a neighborhood street, questions about how the department handles a particular type of call, or simply a chance to meet the people behind the patrol cars. Officers will be present throughout the full two-hour window, so there is no need to rush or arrive at a specific time.

The choice of venue adds a layer of resonance. Black Rifle Coffee Company was founded by veterans and has cultivated a following closely tied to military and law enforcement communities, making it a natural fit for an event meant to humanize the badge. The Woodstock location on Hwy 92 has become a regular gathering spot for many in the area.

No registration or RSVP is required. Residents are welcome to stop by anytime between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
