Woodstock Middle School student wins regional water essay contest
Seventh-grader Eden Amosa named county winner and regional runner-up in metro Atlanta competition.

A Woodstock Middle School seventh-grader has earned top honors in a major metro Atlanta writing competition. Eden Amosa was named the Cherokee County winner and regional runner-up in the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District’s 24th annual essay contest.
The 2025-26 competition was open to middle school students throughout the metropolitan Atlanta area. Amosa, a student in Lacy Caplan’s English language arts class, secured the top spot for Cherokee County and placed as runner-up for the entire region.
Officials plan to honor Amosa's achievement at two upcoming events. She will be recognized at a regional awards ceremony held at the State Capitol. Locally, the Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis will formally recognize both Amosa and Caplan at an upcoming school board meeting.
The school district has posted Amosa's winning essay online for public viewing. District officials highlighted the win as a testament to the academic growth and achievement taking place in local classrooms.
