Nathaneil Amakelew, a student at Woodstock High School, is serving as a Student Delegate to the Cherokee County School Board for the current school year. In this role, Amakelew provides direct input and feedback to the School Board and Superintendent to assist the district in its performance goals.

Amakelew describes the position as a rare opportunity to communicate directly with district leadership. He expressed a desire to understand the intricacies of policy-making and government operations, noting that he plans to pursue a future career working with legislators. He also aims to set an example for his two younger siblings currently in the school system, showing them they can achieve high-level positions.

Regarding his approach to the role, Amakelew emphasized that effective leadership requires listening to the community rather than simply being vocal. He stated that understanding both the approvals and complaints of constituents is essential to becoming an accomplished leader. He credits the community atmosphere at Woodstock High School for his development, specifically highlighting Principal Ingham's efforts to engage with students during lunch and through student-focused meetings.

In addition to his service as a delegate, Amakelew is the Executive Board Public Relations Officer for the Student Government Association and Vice President of the Diversity Club. His academic achievements include recognition as an AP Scholar with Distinction, a Superintendent’s Key Scholar, and membership in the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.
