The Woodstock Fire Department is actively recruiting qualified firefighters, offering a starting compensation package of $52,307.32 annually, a figure that includes holidays and base FLSA overtime pay.
Candidates who hold paramedic certification can earn 10% more per hour, making the position more competitive for those with advanced emergency medical credentials. The department operates on a 24/48 schedule, meaning firefighters work 24-hour shifts followed by 48 hours off, a common structure in the fire service that many in the profession consider one of its more attractive features.
Beyond base pay, the department is pitching a benefits package that includes an employer-funded pension, a 457 savings plan with a 5% employer match, generous paid time off, 11 holidays, and full medical, dental, and vision coverage.
To be considered, applicants must hold a high school diploma or GED, be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver's license, and carry either an AEMT or EMT-I certification along with a Firefighter I certification. Candidates must also pass an entrance exam, a physical agility test, and a background investigation.
Interested applicants can apply at woodstockga.gov/jobs.
