Theatergoers in Woodstock are about to get a seat at the most tension-filled table in New York City. Woodstock Arts opens its production of "Seared," a play by acclaimed playwright Theresa Rebeck, on Friday, March 13, with performances running through March 29.
The production centers on a high-strung culinary genius and a sharp-elbowed restaurant consultant locked in a clash between artistic vision and financial reality, a conflict as old as the restaurant business itself. Set inside an intimate New York City kitchen, the play puts the chaos and heat of the culinary world front and center.
What sets this production apart, according to Woodstock Arts, is the set itself. The company describes it as a fully functional kitchen built directly on stage, meaning audiences won't just watch the drama unfold, they'll smell and hear it, too. Woodstock Arts is calling it the most ambitious set the company has attempted to date.
For Cherokee County residents who enjoy live theater, the run offers more than two weeks of performances to catch the show before it closes. Ticket and showtime information is available through Woodstock Arts.
