Tickets Moving Fast for Woodstock Arts' 'Mamma Mia!' Opening This May
The beloved ABBA-powered musical runs May 1, 24, with tickets already selling out fast

Woodstock Arts is bringing one of the most beloved musicals of the past two decades to its downtown stage, with performances of "Mamma Mia!" running May 1 through May 26. The organization is urging residents to secure their seats soon, tickets are already selling out.
Built around the catalog of Swedish pop group ABBA, "Mamma Mia!" follows Sophie, a young woman who, on the eve of her wedding, secretly invites three men from her mother's past, each a possible father, to the celebration. The show has been a global phenomenon since its West End debut in London in 1999, spawning a blockbuster film franchise and cementing itself as one of the most recognizable titles in both professional and community theater. Its mix of feel-good nostalgia, sharp comedy and wall-to-wall pop hits makes it the kind of production that fills seats fast, and in Woodstock, that's already proving true.
Woodstock Arts serves as the city's primary performing and visual arts organization, anchoring the cultural life of downtown on Arnold Mill Road. Beyond theatrical productions, the organization runs a full season of concerts, gallery exhibitions and arts education programs, making it one of Cherokee County's most active creative institutions. Its intimate theater is a particular draw: the close-up sightlines and smaller house create an energy that larger regional venues simply can't replicate, putting audiences genuinely inside the story rather than watching from a distance.
Behind-the-scenes production photos from photographer Nicholas Tycho Reed offer an early look at what's taking shape. The images, showing cast members amid racks of colorful, sequin-flecked costumes, hint at a vibrant, high-energy production that leans fully into the show's signature glamour. If the wardrobe department is any indication, this one is going to be a lot of fun.
Tickets are available exclusively through the official Woodstock Arts website at woodstockarts.org. Given how quickly seats are moving, theatergoers are encouraged not to wait on this one.
