South Jett Road Closing for Seven Months Starting April 22 for Roadway Improvements
Residents along the affected stretch will need to access their homes from either the north or south end of the road depending on their address

A stretch of South Jett Road will be closed to through traffic beginning April 22, 2026, and running through approximately November 2026, a seven-month construction window that will affect daily commutes and routines for residents along that corridor.
The closure covers the segment between addresses 5135 and 5133 South Jett Road, where a contractor will carry out roadway improvements under the Cherokee County Roadway Capital Program. That program funds infrastructure upgrades across the county's road network, work that has become increasingly urgent as Cherokee County has absorbed decades of rapid population growth and many of its older roads now carry far heavier traffic loads than they were ever designed to handle.
Residents living along the affected stretch won't be cut off entirely, but access will be divided. Those at addresses 5159 through 5135 will enter from one end of the closure, while those at addresses 5133 through 5100 will access the road from the other. Message boards and road closed signs will be posted to direct motorists along the designated detour route.
Cherokee County is asking drivers to follow all posted signage and slow down near the work zone. Construction sites are dynamic environments, equipment moves, materials shift, and workers are often close to the travel lane, so staying alert matters.
For residents who use South Jett Road as part of their daily routine, planning ahead before April 22 is worth the effort. Build in extra time, get familiar with the detour route, and check signage when it goes up.
Residents with questions or concerns can contact Cherokee County directly at 678-493-6077.
