School Board Appoints Chief of Staff, Etowah High Assistant Principal
Three educators move into new leadership roles following retirements and promotions within the district.

<p><em>Woodstock Community News| Woodstock, GA</em></p><p>The Cherokee County School Board appointed three educators to key leadership positions on Thursday, including a new district Chief of Staff and an assistant principal for Etowah High School. The appointments were approved as part of the board's monthly human resources employment recommendations to fill vacancies created by upcoming retirements and staff promotions.</p><p>Tyler Gwynn will assume the role of Chief of Staff, filling the position left by Mike McGowan, who is set to retire later this month. Gwynn is a 26-year educator who joined the Cherokee County School District (CCSD) in 2022 after working with Cobb County and Marietta City Schools. He most recently served as the district’s Human Resources executive director for strategic talent management.</p><p>At the local school level, Victoria Brown has been named the new assistant principal for Etowah High School. A CCSD graduate and 14-year educator, Brown currently serves as Etowah’s graduation coach and head softball coach. She acts as a member of the Superintendent's Teacher Advisory Council and will step into the administration role to replace Dr. Curt Ashley, who retires next month.</p><p>The board also promoted Merry Hofmeister to supervisor of instructional technology services. Hofmeister has spent her entire 21-year career with the district, previously serving as an instructional technology specialist. A designated Microsoft Innovative Educator Fellow, she fills a vacancy created by a recent internal promotion.</p>
