R.M. Moore Teacher Joins Superintendent’s Advisory Council
Fourth-grade educator Sharon Byrd selected to provide feedback and insight to district leadership.

<p><em>Woodstock Community News| Woodstock, GA</em></p><p>Sharon Byrd, a fourth-grade teacher at R.M. Moore ES STEM Academy, has been named to the Cherokee County School District’s newly formed Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council. The council was established to provide educators with a direct platform to share feedback and insights with district administration.</p><p>Byrd, a 2005 graduate of Cherokee High School, brings 15 years of educational experience to the advisory role. She has taught math, science, and social studies at R.M. Moore since 2022. Her career began as a Special Education teacher within the district, following experience as a virtual teacher for the Georgia Cyber Academy.</p><p>In her classroom, Byrd focuses on combining high expectations with strong student relationships. She utilizes rigorous math tasks to foster critical thinking, encouraging students to explore multiple strategies rather than just solving problems. Byrd emphasized that her goal is to create a safe environment where students understand that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process.</p><p>Byrd credits her grandmother for inspiring her career path, recalling how she would "play teacher" during summer breaks as a child. She noted that the most rewarding aspect of her job is building connections with families and seeing former students return to visit. The district will continue introducing council members to the community over the coming weeks.</p>
