WOODSTOCK, Ga. - This story has been updated with additional details drawn from the full agenda packet for the Woodstock City Council meeting scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.
As Woodstock Community News previously reported, the meeting includes a first reading of the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget, six public hearings on land use matters, and several consent agenda items tied to park infrastructure and right-of-way agreements. The full packet provides new context on capital project timelines, city communications performance and park maintenance activity that residents and stakeholders will want to review.
CAPITAL PROJECTS: WHERE THINGS STAND
The May 2026 Capital Projects Status Sheet included in the packet offers a detailed snapshot of active construction, design and plan-ready projects across the city. The Trickum Road Roundabout is listed as substantially complete. Several projects tied directly to items on the May 18 agenda are also tracked in the report.
The Noonday Creek Trail Extension is currently under construction, with a target completion date of September 2026 and a contract sum listed under the development agreement. The Lyndee Lane Extension Phase 1 - connected to the consent agenda item involving CRL Real Estate and ROL Real Estate - is also under construction, with a target completion date of September 2026.
The Main Street at Elm Street Intersection project is listed as under construction, with a target completion date of June 2026. The Dobbs Road Trail Phase 1 is also under construction, with a target completion date of June 2026.
Among projects in design, the Barnesdale Terrace at Main Street intersection improvement shows a concept plan complete, with a target let date listed as TBD - notable given that the Barnesdale Terrace Redevelopment rezoning case, Z#168-26, is among the six public hearing items on the May 18 agenda. The Rob Hogan Plaza at Elm Street, Phase 1, is listed as in the concept phase with a target let date of TBD.
Projects listed as plan-ready and targeting a summer 2026 letting include Market Street Extension, Paden Street Extension, and Streetscapes VI Phase 1. The Neese Sidewalk East Phase 1 and Reeves Street Extension are targeting a fall 2026 letting. Goshen Lane Extension is noted as to be constructed privately per a development agreement.
COMMUNICATIONS REPORT: INSTAGRAM UP, FACEBOOK DOWN IN APRIL
The city's April 2026 Communications Report, prepared by Marketing and Communications Manager Stacy Brown, shows a mixed picture across platforms during the reporting period of April 1 through April 30, 2026.
On Facebook, the city's page saw substantial declines in reach and engagement in April. Overall performance metrics included reduced views, viewers, content interactions, link clicks, visits and followers compared to prior periods. Public-input and public-safety posts remained the month's top performers by reach, with the Johnston Farm Park Master Plan Public Input post, the Elm Street Pedestrian Crossing post, Georgia Cities Week content, the Washington Ave Detour notice, and a Parking Deck Maintenance post among the top-performing content by reach.
Instagram told a sharply different story. The platform saw a roughly 50 percent increase in views and a significant increase in reach in April. Nextdoor membership grew to 6,063 members in April, with three posts reaching an Impression Count of 85,000.
On YouTube, the city's channel recorded 604 views and 49 hours of watch time in April, and gained three subscribers.
The city website recorded 47,000 total sessions in April. Of the month's active users, the largest share came from Atlanta, followed by Woodstock residents. Top landing pages included the homepage, the Concert Series Lineup page, and the Water and Sewer Utility page. Top traffic acquisition came from Google organic search, which drove 41,000 sessions. Direct visits accounted for 17,000 sessions. Traffic from organic social contributed additional sessions, and email drove sessions as well.
Email and SMS subscriber lists grew overall in April, with the email list rising to 12,338 subscribers, despite a slight bump in unsubscribes. Owned-channel engagement was still up month-over-month.
Media coverage in April came from 34 unique media outlets ranging from hyperlocal to global news sites. Thirty-four articles were tracked, with predominantly neutral sentiment. The report notes that the dominance of neutral sentiment was primarily due to coverage of an officer-involved shooting on April 6 across numerous outlets including MSN, Yahoo, CBS News, FOX and WSB-TV, and a widely syndicated strangulation-related arrest connected to a TV personality. Positive coverage centered on community events and economic development, including national business recognition for the J. King Images ribbon cutting.
PARKS AND RECREATION: MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY IN APRIL
The Parks and Recreation Department report for April details a range of maintenance and improvement work completed at city facilities. Staff removed a marble sign from the Dupree Park construction zone and installed new automated external defibrillators at both the tennis courts and the concession stand at Dupree Park.
At City Park, staff repainted the guitar installation ahead of the summer concert season and planted new flowers around the fountain. Staff also replaced exterior lights at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Amphitheater, aerated lawn areas at the amphitheater, spread new pine straw along the sidewalk from the amphitheater to City Park, and blew in new mulch at both the amphitheater and City Park.
At Woofstock Dog Park, staff cleaned up the butterfly garden area and replaced broken boards along the boardwalk.
SPECIAL EVENTS NOTED IN PARKS REPORT
The April Parks and Recreation report also references several special events and logistical milestones. A pre-concert logistics meeting was held with representatives from police, fire, public works, parks and recreation, and the city. Four Legendary sponsorship spots for the Summer Concert Series were listed as available. Band and fireworks deposits have been paid, and all concert printables were ordered and received. Concert T-shirts were expected to arrive by April 13. Weather insurance was confirmed, paid and bound. EOM was confirmed as a sponsor for employee picnics.
The City Wide Yard Sale had 29 registrations as of the report, with a deadline of April 13.
WHAT TO WATCH
Residents interested in the six land use public hearings - particularly Z#168-26 for the 113-unit Barnesdale Terrace Redevelopment, Z#170-26 for the proposed 92,500-square-foot warehouse at 125 Lorraine Parkway, and CUP#095-26 for the gas station at 9845 Main Street where staff recommends denial - should plan to attend or submit comments. The first reading of the FY2027 budget also opens the public comment period on city spending priorities before a final vote at a subsequent meeting.
The May 18, 2026, meeting is open to the public. The full agenda packet is available at the City of Woodstock's agenda portal.
