High Fire Danger Conditions Forecast for Woodstock Area Friday Evening
Low humidity and dry conditions prompt Woodstock Fire Department to urge residents to use extreme caution with any outdoor burning.

Dangerous fire weather conditions are expected to grip Woodstock and much of North and Central Georgia Friday afternoon and into the evening, the Woodstock Fire Department warned, as a combination of low humidity and dry vegetation creates elevated risk across the region.
Relative humidity levels are forecast to drop to 25 percent or lower for at least four consecutive hours, according to the department's alert. Winds out of the east-northeast at 5 to 10 mph will add to the concern, providing enough air movement to help spread any fire that ignites in the dry conditions.
The department pointed to dry fuels — grasses, brush, and other vegetation — as a key factor amplifying the danger. When humidity falls that low for extended periods, organic material loses moisture rapidly and can ignite far more easily than under normal conditions.
Residents who plan to burn yard debris or brush are urged to use extreme caution, the department said. Cherokee County, like much of North Georgia, sees elevated fire risk during late winter when vegetation remains dry and dormant before spring growth returns.
The warning covers the afternoon and evening hours of Friday, Feb. 13. Woodstock Fire Department officials did not specify a time when conditions are expected to improve, but residents should monitor conditions closely before starting any outdoor fire.
