Governor Commends Woodstock Firefighter for Leadership and Service

Woodstock Fire Department Master Firefighter David Sargenski has received a formal commendation from Governor Brian Kemp, honoring his dedication to public safety and his influence as a mentor. The recognition coincides with Sargenski receiving the Georgia State Firefighters Association’s "David Gray" Memorial Firefighter Leadership Award.
Sargenski, a United States Army veteran and certified firefighter since 2009, joined the Woodstock Fire Department in 2016. The Governor’s proclamation describes him as a "quiet servant leader" who maintains a high level of readiness and has earned the respect of both peers and supervisors through his professional integrity and humility.
According to the commendation, signed on February 3, 2026, Sargenski is heavily involved in the development of his fellow first responders. He is credited with frequently taking time to teach hands-on skills and privately coach other firefighters, helping to support new department members and foster a collaborative environment.
Beyond his duties at the fire station, the commendation highlights Sargenski's volunteer work within the Woodstock community. His contributions include donating handcrafted items for public safety fundraisers and supporting various local events, efforts that officials say reflect the core values of the fire service.
