Former Woodstock Detective, School Police Officer Bryan Zapp Dies
Longtime local law enforcement officer served Woodstock for nearly 20 years before joining school police.

<p><em>Woodstock Community News| Woodstock, GA</em></p><p>The Cherokee County School District Police and Woodstock Police Department are mourning the loss of Officer Bryan Zapp. A long-time Woodstock detective who joined the school police force earlier this year, Zapp passed away recently, prompting tributes from local law enforcement.</p><p>Zapp began his career with the Woodstock Police Department in 2005, serving the city for two decades. He distinguished himself through his professionalism and was promoted to detective in 2018. He served in that capacity until January 2025, when he transitioned to the Cherokee County School Police to further his career.</p><p>Colleagues described Zapp as an officer who took immense pride in his impact on the community and his department. He was specifically noted for his role in mentoring and precepting new officers, ensuring that those joining the Woodstock Police Department felt welcomed and supported.</p><p>Officials have asked residents to keep Zapp’s family, friends, and colleagues at both the Cherokee County School Police and Woodstock Police Department in their thoughts.</p>
