Woodstock Mayor Michael Caldwell joined City leaders and corporate representatives Wednesday to inaugurate Metro Atlanta’s first ultra-fast drone delivery service at the Walmart Supercenter on Highway 92. The launch makes Woodstock the starting point for a regional rollout that will eventually include six area stores.

Starting immediately, residents can order grocery items, over-the-counter medicine, and household goods through the Wing app. Once a customer confirms their delivery spot, automated drones transport the order at approximately 60 mph at an altitude of 150 feet. According to Wing, the drones gently lower packages to the ground without assistance, with average flight times of five minutes or less.

"Innovation has always been at home in Woodstock, and today's inaugural flight of Walmart and Wing's drone delivery service puts our city at the center of what's next," said Mayor Caldwell. He noted that the service offers a new convenience for residents, turning "a frustrating drive for ingredients into a five-minute delivery to our front door."

This initiative is part of a major expansion for Wing and Walmart, building on successful operations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Residents interested in using the new service can check if their specific address is eligible for delivery by visiting wing.com/atlanta.
