Students across the Cherokee County School District are celebrating the Thanksgiving season through service learning projects, including a record-breaking food drive effort by Sequoyah Innovation Zone schools to support local families in need.

The Sequoyah High School JROTC organized its annual food drive, which saw significant participation from schools within the Sequoyah Innovation Zone. Together, these schools collected a record 700 boxes filled with food. The donations will be distributed to MUST Ministries to assist community members facing food insecurity.

Beyond the food drive, students participated in various charitable activities designed to foster community awareness. Projects included coloring cards for residents receiving Thanksgiving meals and assembling food baskets for local families.

According to district officials, these initiatives rely on the support of teachers, staff, and volunteers. The service learning projects are intended to teach students about thankfulness while helping them understand and address the needs of their neighbors during the holiday season.
