The Cherokee County School District (CCSD) announced on February 2 that it has achieved a record high score on the state's accountability system, moving from 21st to 8th place among Georgia's 180 school districts while keeping administrative costs low.

According to the district, the new rankings reflect performance on Georgia's College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). The data shows CCSD jumping from the 21st highest student performance in the state to the 8th highest out of 180 total school districts.

Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis credited the "perfect formula" of classroom talent and leadership for the results. "It is the talent of classroom teachers, leaders and support staff coupled with a School Board laser focused on student learning that creates the perfect formula for achieving top results in CCSD," Davis stated.

Alongside academic gains, the district highlighted increased financial efficiency. The report indicates that CCSD moved from having the 9th smallest general administration costs to the 6th smallest statewide. Officials are encouraging the community to join in recognizing these achievements throughout the month.
