Cherokee County School District is giving middle and high school students a chance to trade Georgia classrooms for South African landscapes, with a districtwide educational trip planned for the summer of 2027.
The trip is open to all CCSD students currently enrolled in grades 8 through 11, making it one of the broader international travel opportunities the district has offered in recent years. Families interested in learning more can attend a virtual informational meeting on March 12 at 6:30 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. An RSVP is required to attend, and families can register at rsvp.eftours.com/FUGAAU7.
The meeting is organized through Education First, a global educational travel company, and will walk families through trip dates, what's included in the package, and available payment plans. Students are encouraged to attend alongside a parent or guardian.
For Cherokee County families weighing a commitment of this size, the March meeting is designed to answer the practical questions, cost, itinerary, and how to budget for a trip more than a year away, before any decisions are made.
The 2027 timeline gives families roughly 18 months to plan and save, a window that could make an international educational experience more accessible to a wider range of CCSD households than a shorter runway might allow.
