CCSD names November Athletes of the Month
Sequoyah's Mason Thomas and Cherokee's Gracie Mayo earn county recognition for swimming and flag football.

<p><em>Woodstock Community News | Woodstock, GA</em></p><p>The Cherokee County School District on Nov. 13 recognized Sequoyah High School swimmer Mason Thomas and Cherokee High School flag football player Gracie Mayo as its Athletes of the Month for November, honoring athletic achievement among county high school students.</p><p>Mayo, coached by Tom Stringfellow, was named Female Athlete of the Month; Thomas, coached by Cora Hodgins, was named Male Athlete of the Month. The district shared photos of the honorees with school leaders: Principal Andy Hall, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Jeremy Adams, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Peter Vajda and Principal Robert Van Alstyne, alongside coach and teacher Cora Hodgins.</p><p>Athletes are nominated by their individual high schools and a committee selects the monthly winners. The district thanked award sponsor BSN and praised the School Board for its "laser focus on ensuring our students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else."</p><p>The recognition highlights local student-athletes and brings attention to programs at schools that serve Woodstock residents, including Sequoyah High School.
