Mayor Michael Caldwell and incumbent council members kept their seats in Woodstock’s Nov. 4 municipal election, and voters approved a transportation special-purpose local-option sales tax (TSPLOST) and a senior surviving-spouse tax exemption — results the city says support continued investment in roads, water, parks and public safety.

Caldwell received 3,915 votes to challenger Martha Jean Schindler’s 1,955, according to the City of Woodstock. In Ward 1, incumbent Warren Johnson won with 3,442 votes to Trent Council’s 2,111. Ward 3 incumbent Colin Ake received 4,780 votes. In Ward 5, incumbent Brian Wolfe earned 3,418 votes to Gopi Govindaraj’s 2,230.

Voters approved the Senior Tax Exemption Surviving Spouse question by 5,092 to 801. The TSPLOST passed with 25,132 yes votes and 16,479 no votes.

Mayor Caldwell reacted to the results in the city’s statement, saying, “In the past four years, our City Council has delivered lower taxes, record public safety investment, and generational upgrades to our roads, water, and parks. Thank you, Woodstock, for your trust and for the honor of serving you as your Mayor. Together, we’ll keep building a city that feels like home.”

A swearing-in ceremony is scheduled at the start of the Jan. 12 regular meeting of Mayor and Council. Terms of office begin Jan. 1, 2026, and run through Dec. 31, 2029.
