Winter Weather Advisory in Effect for Woodstock Area; Icy Roads Possible Tonight

Woodstock Police urge caution on roads as dropping temperatures could create slick spots on bridges and overpasses
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of North Georgia, including the Woodstock area, with temperatures expected to drop sharply tonight and light freezing precipitation possible. The Woodstock Police Department shared the advisory on social media, urging residents to take precautions.
Significant snow accumulation is not expected, but authorities warned that flurries or light freezing precipitation could produce slick spots — particularly on bridges, overpasses, and shaded roadways, which tend to freeze before other surfaces.
Woodstock Police said officers will be monitoring road conditions throughout the weather event. Residents who must travel are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and increase following distance.
Authorities also encouraged residents to check on elderly neighbors and bring pets indoors as temperatures fall. Drivers should use particular caution on elevated surfaces, which are more susceptible to icing even when other roads appear clear.
