I-575 Through Cherokee County Faces Intermittent Traffic Delays Saturday

Utility crews will work across the interstate from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with law enforcement managing traffic flow in both directions

Drivers on I-575 through Cherokee County should plan for a slower Saturday commute. Utility crews will be pulling lines across the interstate March 21 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and law enforcement will pace traffic in rolling intervals in both directions throughout the work window — meaning vehicles may be slowed or briefly stopped multiple times along the affected stretch.

The work zone runs from the Cobb County line north to Exit 16 in Canton, covering one of the busiest segments of highway in the county. For tens of thousands of Cherokee County residents, this corridor is the daily link between Woodstock, Canton, and the broader Atlanta metro — not just a stretch of road but the backbone of the morning commute.

Anyone with flexibility Saturday should consider getting on the road before 7 a.m. or waiting until after 4 p.m. to sidestep the work zone entirely. For local trips, Cherokee County roads including Sixes Road, Bells Ferry Road, and Highway 92 can serve as alternatives — though drivers should expect those corridors to absorb extra traffic if significant numbers divert off the interstate.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is coordinating traffic management for the project.
