Household leaks waste nearly 10,000 gallons of water per year on average, the equivalent of 300 loads of laundry
The City of Woodstock is encouraging residents to participate in Fix a Leak Week, running March 16-22, a national initiative aimed at helping households identify and repair common water leaks.
According to the city, household leaks waste nearly 10,000 gallons of water per year on average — equivalent to the amount of water needed to wash 300 loads of laundry.
The campaign promotes a simple approach: take just five minutes over five days to check for and fix leaks around the home. One common culprit is a worn toilet flapper, which can silently waste significant amounts of water if left unaddressed.
Woodstock residents can find additional tips and resources through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's WaterSense program at www.epa.gov/watersense/fix-leak-week, or through the City of Woodstock's website.
