Arnold Mill Teacher Joins Superintendent’s Advisory Council

Bridget Barker brings 19 years of experience to the Cherokee County School District's new feedback group.
<p><em>Woodstock Community News| Woodstock, GA</em></p><p>Arnold Mill Elementary School educator Bridget Barker has been selected to serve on the Cherokee County School District’s newly formed Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council, a group designed to give teachers a direct platform for sharing feedback with district leadership.</p><p>Barker, a 19-year veteran educator, currently teaches fourth-grade English language arts at the school located on Arnold Mill Road. She has deep roots in the local community as a 2003 graduate of Sequoyah High School. Before transferring to Arnold Mill, Barker launched her career at Holly Springs Elementary School, where she taught for 11 years across the third, fourth, and fifth grades.</p><p>According to the district, Barker credits her career choice to Dr. Keith Bryant, her sixth-grade teacher at Hickory Flat Elementary. She noted that Bryant’s emphasis on higher-order thinking and his ability to build connections with students inspired her to pursue education.</p><p>In her own classroom, Barker focuses on elevating excellence by encouraging students to set personal, achievable educational goals. She states that she aims to create an environment where students feel "seen, heard, and appreciated," fostering intrinsic motivation and accountability. The district will continue introducing council members in the coming weeks to highlight educators serving on the advisory body.</p>
