Record-Breaking Heat Could Hit Cherokee County by Week's End
The National Weather Service says Thursday and Friday highs may approach daily records, running more than 15 degrees above normal for mid-February.

Woodstock residents can expect a stretch of unseasonably warm weather this week — and by Thursday and Friday, temperatures could flirt with daily records, according to a forecast shared Monday by the Woodstock Fire Department.
The National Weather Service Atlanta projects highs of 76 degrees Thursday and 75 degrees Friday for the metro Atlanta area, which includes Cherokee County. Those readings would run more than 15 degrees above normal for mid-February, putting them in range of daily record highs for both days, forecasters said.
The warmup builds gradually through the week. After a cool Tuesday high of just 68 degrees, Wednesday climbs to 69 before the heat arrives in earnest. Saturday stays mild at 68, suggesting the warm pattern won't break sharply heading into the weekend.
The dry stretch offers a brief reprieve before the weather pattern shifts. Conditions should remain rain-free through Wednesday, but the same warming trend that pushes temperatures toward record territory will also fuel increasing rain chances Thursday and Friday, the Weather Service said.
For Woodstock residents, the combination of record warmth and returning moisture by week's end is worth watching — particularly for anyone with outdoor plans Thursday or Friday afternoon.
