Cherokee County School District principals and leaders gathered at Woodstock Elementary School and other campuses on Jan. 13 for monthly professional development. The training sessions focused on observing classroom instruction to evaluate how new English language arts and math resources are being implemented to support student achievement.
According to the school district, these monthly meetings allow administrators to witness "best instructional practices in action" at their colleagues' schools. The initiative is part of the district's broader mission to become the highest-performing school district in Georgia.
During the session at Woodstock Elementary, leaders reviewed School Improvement Plans and participated in "Learning in Action" observations. The training specifically highlighted literacy across content areas, focusing on Tier 1 instruction that meets state standards and supports that make learning targets visible to students.
District officials stated that the visits also covered how teachers leverage student performance data to drive improvement. The district described the leadership team's dedication to professional growth as "unmatched" as they work to elevate educational excellence across the county.
