Downtown Parking Deck Ramp Back Open After Monday Maintenance
A brief closure between the first and second levels of the downtown deck has been resolved, with all ramps and entrances now fully open

The ramp connecting the first and second levels of the City Center Parking Deck in downtown Woodstock reopened Monday, June 8, after City Property Maintenance crews completed scheduled work on the structure, according to the City of Woodstock.
The closure was limited in scope, only the ramp between levels one and two was taken out of service, while all deck entrances and every other level remained open to drivers throughout the day. By Monday afternoon, the city confirmed via its official Facebook page that work was finished and the ramp had returned to normal operation.
For anyone who parks downtown regularly, the quick turnaround mattered. The City Center Parking Deck is one of the primary reasons Woodstock's walkable downtown works as well as it does. The multi-level structure absorbs a substantial share of the parking demand generated by the shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues that have made the City Center district one of Cherokee County's most active gathering places, particularly on weekends, when competition for spots can be fierce.
Keeping that infrastructure in good shape is an ongoing responsibility. Parking decks take a constant beating from vehicle traffic, weather, and the wear that comes with heavy daily use, and deferred maintenance on concrete ramps and structural joints tends to compound quickly into costlier repairs. Monday's work reflects the kind of routine upkeep that helps the city avoid those larger problems down the road.
The brief, well-managed closure caused no apparent extended disruption to downtown visitors, a small but meaningful sign that the city's maintenance planning accounted for the deck's role in keeping downtown accessible and open for business.
