Cherokee County School District (CCSD) 8th graders are receiving a new resource this month to help plan their academic futures ahead of high school class registration. The "Focus on the Future" handbook details the district's Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) offerings for the 2026-27 school year.

The guide outlines 40 specific Career Pathways available across CCSD schools, providing a roadmap for students interested in specific industries. According to the district, these pathways are designed for all students, regardless of whether they plan to attend college or enter the workforce immediately after graduation. The handbook includes information on required classes, potential career options, Dual Enrollment opportunities, and Work-Based Learning programs.

District data indicates that students who complete a CTAE pathway achieve a 99% graduation rate. The curriculum also offers academic and post-secondary benefits: 13 CTAE courses qualify as the required fourth science course for graduation, and 19 pathways lead to nationally recognized industry certifications. Additionally, students can earn college credit through specific End of Pathway Assessments or course credit through the Technical College System of Georgia.

School officials encourage parents to review the handbook with their children to discuss potential areas of interest before registration. While physical copies are being distributed to 8th graders this month, the handbook is also available for review on the CCSD website.
