Cherokee County Schools Post Highest Ever Scores
District shows strong gains in student progress and leads state on Closing Gaps for middle and high schools.

The Cherokee County School District posted its highest-ever College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) results on Nov. 12, 2025, showing districtwide gains in achievement and growth that matter to Woodstock families as local schools—especially high schools—outperform statewide averages. The scores reflect 2024‑25 Georgia Milestones results, course enrollment and graduation data.
CCSD high schools led the region on Progress with a score of 94.0, nearly 12 points above the state and up 8.6 points from last year, the district said. Progress measures learning growth compared with academically similar students across Georgia; elementary Progress rose to 93.6 and middle school Progress to 86.1. Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis credited teachers, staff and administrators for the increases.
The district also posted a perfect 100 on the Closing Gaps measure for both middle and high schools, indicating student groups are meeting achievement targets in math, ELA, science and social studies. The district noted that in middle school, English learners exceeded state targets in all four content areas, and in high school both English learners and students with disabilities exceeded targets. The report notes Closing Gaps comparisons are not directly comparable to last year because of the state’s new math standards.
On Content Mastery (overall achievement in core subjects), CCSD outperformed Georgia at every level: elementary 79.6 (state 68.0), middle 78.9 (state 65.6) and high school 85.8 (state 69.2). Readiness scores showed small declines at the elementary and high school levels but remain above state averages. The Class of 2025 four‑year graduation rate was 92.8, down 0.8 points from 93.6 but still above the state average of 87.2; graduation rates rose at Creekview, River Ridge and Woodstock high schools.
School Board Chair Janet Read Welch and Superintendent Davis praised the collective effort of students, families, staff and the board. District leaders will present a detailed CCRPI report at the School Board’s Nov. 20 meeting; the report will then be posted on the Cherokee County School District Accountability page.
